When both spouses agree on the terms of divorce at the outset of their case and are able to make agreements on important matters of alimony and child custody, I offer services for processing an uncontested divorce.

Contested Divorce

If the parties are not able to get along and make decisions regarding the divorce, then it will have to be contested. This is when your case is taken to court and a judge will make the decisions regarding child custody, alimony, property division and other matters.

Mediation

If you and your partner are in disagreement but want to try to avoid trial, I offer my services as a mediator. As a mediator, I don't take sides. My goal is to help the two of you put aside your differences, and reach an agreement on as many issues as possible. I meet with both of you at the same time, help each of you discuss your needs with each other, attempt to minimize potential hostility, and help both of you come up with solutions for your problems.

Limited Scope Representation

Perhaps, due to your budget, you only want an attorney to handle one aspect of your family law case. So, for example, you're going through a divorce which you think you can handle yourself, but you have a child support hearing coming up and you want help with that hearing. You can hire me on a limited scope basis, so I will only represent you for the child support hearing, but you will be handling the remainder of your divorce. The scope of the services I can provide to you can be as narrow or as broad as you wish.

Consultation Basis

This is another alternative if you have a limited budget. In this situation, I serve as your adviser and counselor only. You handle your own hearing or trial, but you're free to schedule meetings or conferences with me so I can answer any questions you may have as to the law, your rights, and how to prepare for your court appearances.

Full Service

In this situation, I become your attorney of record and handle your entire family law matter. I prepare the necessary paperwork on your behalf, negotiate on your behalf, conduct discovery (the process of seeking evidence that improves your case), and represent you at all hearings, your settlement conference, and/or your trial.

Legal Separation

A legal separation is not a divorce at all. Though similar steps are taken to separate both of the parties' lives, it allows the married couple a chance to deal with issues that have brought them to this difficult place in their relationship. They are still legally married, but the legal aspects of their lives have been separated. It may lead to divorce but does not have to if the parties decide to reconcile.
